Kuusamo Airport is the closest airport to Hossan Lumo, approximately one hour’s drive away.

The drive from Kuusamo to Hossa is easy and straightforward, with quiet roads and very little traffic. Along the way, you’ll enjoy beautiful northern Finnish scenery, with forests and lakes surrounding you.

Driving in winter

Hossan Lumo is easily accessible by car throughout the year, including winter. The roads are maintained during the winter months, and rental cars are equipped with winter tyres.

Although the roads may be covered in snow or ice, driving is generally straightforward when you adjust your speed to the conditions. A four-wheel-drive vehicle is not necessary for reaching Hossan Lumo.

We recommend renting a car during your stay, as it gives you the freedom to explore Hossa National Park and the surrounding areas at your own pace.

If you’re planning to prepare your own meals during your stay, we recommend doing your grocery shopping in Kuusamo before continuing to Hossa.

There are several well-stocked supermarkets in Kuusamo, including Prisma, K-Citymarket and Lidl. All three are conveniently accessible from the main road, making it easy to stop for groceries on your way.

We also have a small on-site shop at Hossan Lumo, open from June to October, where you can find basic groceries, snacks and other essentials.

If you prefer not to rent a car, we can arrange a transfer from Kuusamo Airport for up to 3 people, for an additional charge. Transfers are subject to availability and must be arranged in advance.

We can also stop at a supermarket in Kuusamo on the way, so you can stock up on groceries for your stay.

Please keep in mind that having your own car is recommended if you wish to explore Hossa National Park and the surrounding areas independently.

From June to October, our reception is located in our on-site shop.

Arriving outside reception opening hours? No problem! We live right next door and are happy to welcome you later in the evening or during the winter months when our reception is closed.

All we ask is that you let us know your estimated arrival time in advance, so we can make sure everything is ready for your arrival.
